Yes, I did yoga in the quiet room of the Brussels airport business lounge. Yes, people looked at me like I was crazy. No, I didn’t care, because it felt damn good to do downward dog 14 hours into a 36 hour journey!
The travel gods are smiling on me
Posted in Uncategorized on July 26, 2012 by MartineI was mentally preparing myself to spend the next ten hours in this tiny seat (so much that I took a picture for my photo of the day).
Then a flight attendant told me I had been upgraded because the flight was overbooked. So I spent the next ten hours here instead.
(in both pictures I’m standing with my back pressed
Against the seat in front of me, so you can see the relative leg room)
Two complimentary upgrades on ten hour flights in one trip – I must be doing something right! Or I’m being paid back for my last two nightmarish trips to Rwanda.
Getting goods to market
Posted in Rwanda on July 24, 2012 by MartineDriving through Rwanda, as you get closer to a town, you pass bicycle after bicycle being pushed by one or more men laden with has to be hundreds of pounds of goods. Here you see bananas, but I’ve seen pretty much everything be strapped to a bike and pushed. One guy was riding his. Icy p’s downhill with 20 gallons of palm oil strapped to the back (maybe more). I’m not sure how he stopped at the bottom of the hill!
